The central square of Kyiv is the main square of the capital of Ukraine, it is located in the Shevchenkovsky district of the city.
The square has been renamed several times and currently bears the name "Maidan Nezalezhnosti" (Independence Square), named after the declaration of independence of Ukraine in 1991.
